ABOUT
Purple Fire Crow, known as Mr. Antoine Hunter, is an award-winning African, Indigenous, Deaf, and Two Spirit artist from the Bay Area. Trained at institutions including Skyline High School and CalArts, he is the founder and artistic director of Urban Jazz Dance. Hunter has showcased his talent globally—from the Bay Area to Rome, Cuba, and London.
Recognized for his impact, his accolades include the 2011 National Dance Week Dancer’s Choice Award and New York’s The Radio City Rockets’ Pick for Dancer of the Week in 2016. He’s been featured in numerous magazines and supports DeafHope. Hunter teaches dance and ASL, and has produced the Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival since 2013.
